Inside IBM Watson's New NYC Digs
Modern startups and major tech companies such as Facebook, Twitter and Google have made the Big Apple their second home. Now they're joined by a supercomputer most famous for beating a human in Jeopardy, as well as a string of high-profile cognitive computing innovations. That's right: as of Wednesday, IBM Watson calls New York City its permanent home. Speaking before a packed room in Watson's new 120,000 sq. ft. global headquarters downtown, IBM CEO and Chairman Ginni Rometty said the work Watson is doing in the areas of data and cognitive computing "will redefine the relationship between man and machine." The four floor headquarters, part of a $1 Billion Watson expansion plan launched in January, will include a Watson Experience Center and a Digital Design Agency. Ad Age recently listed IBM's Digital Agency as one of the largest in the world.
