Marine Corps F-35 Crashes In South Carolina In 'Class A Mishap'
According to a report by Business Insider, on Friday, a US Marine Corps F-35B Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter crashed in South Carolina just outside Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort. The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office told The Herald, a local paper, that the military aircraft went down just before noon in a Class A mishap just five miles from the air base. Reuters reports that a 'Class A mishap' is a serious incident involving over 2 million-dollars in damages or the complete destruction of the aircraft. The pilot is reportedly presumed to have ejected, however the status of the airman is currently unknown.
