Measles Outbreak Declared In Five States
According to UPI, the measles outbreak has spread to 15 states throughout the country, and the number of cases through the first three months of 2019 is approaching the total number of cases for all of last year.
From Jan.1 to March 21, there have 317 cases of measles reported, with outbreaks having been reported in California, Illinois, New York, Texas and Washington. In New York, outbreaks have been reported in New York City and in Rockland County.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has linked these cases to travelers bringing the virus back from other countries such as Israel and Ukraine, and recommends children between ages 1 and 6 get vaccinated.
