New MRSA Strain Discovered

Researchers in Denmark have identified a new form of the bacterial infection known as MRSA that they believe is spread through eating contaminated poultry. The researchers acknowledged that people who raise livestock are known to have a higher risk for MRSA. However, the new strain infected 10 city-dwelling people who had not been working on a farm and had no direct contact with live farm animals. The researchers believe these patients were infected after eating or coming into contact with poultry that had been imported from other European countries.
