Savannah Guthrie Criticized For Nick Sandmann Interview
Today's Savannah Guthrie recently interviewed Nick Sandmann, the Kentucky Catholic high school student who stared down Native American elder Nathan Phillips, while wearing a MAGA hat.
According to Business Insider, people on both sides of the fence are not happy with Savannah's interview.
Those who believe that Sandmann was being disrespectful to Phillips say that the Today show host was as soft and didn't interrogate the teen's unapologetic narrative about the event, which was actually issued by a public relations firm.
A viewer named Daniel Maycock tweeted, "You had a chance to bring some real conversation and instead, you offered a coached kid to just say his talking points. A new low for journalism. #actualfakenews"
Sandmann's supporters were upset that Savannah asked him to apologize for staring Phillips down and blocking his pathway.
Conservative Benny Johnson tweeted, "God Bless this kid for standing his ground against the SJW outrage mob that is the establishment media."
Some even criticized the Today show's decision to air an interview with the teen, to get his perspective.
Robert Littal tweeted, "Imagine if a black kid would have done something disrespectful to a white woman that went viral, I doubt they would be getting the Today Show love. This is white supremacy and media working together."
