Three Well-Known Climbers Found Dead After Climbing M16
Deadspin reports three climbers were found dead in Banff National Park after a four-day search. Parks Canada announced Sunday that they had recovered the bodies of climbers Jess Roskelley, Hansjörg Auer, and David Lama from the aftermath of an avalanche. The three had been attempting the second-ever summit of M16, a 1,000-foot climb that includes spans of rock and ice. The avalanche was believed to be a Size 3 on a five-point scale. Roskelley made headlines in 2003 when he became the youngest person at the time to climb Mt Everest at age 20. Auer and Lama were also both well known in the climber community.
